Mr Shevill and Mr Partington visited Malawi recently to conduct the official opening of the 'Ossett School Block', built from funds raised by Ossett School's students and staff.

They were able to see first-hand some of the poverty faced in Malawi, one of the poorest countries in the world.

Mr Shevill stated "We were very touched by the warmth and hospitality of Malawi's people, despite their obvious poverty, and can see why it has earned the nickname the Warm Heart of Africa".
Mr Shevill was made an Honorary Chief of the Ekwendendi School and its land, during a formal meal held in one of the classrooms. According to Malawi's ancient traditions this is a life-long title and one of the highest honours which can be afforded to any visitor and Mr Shevill described it as "My proudest moment".
All the children, staff and parents at Ekwendeni school have passed on their heart-felt thanks to Ossett's students for the fundraising and the many pen pal letters which were delivered by hand. Mr Partington said "The caring nature of Ossett's students is absolutely amazing, I have seen nothing like it in any of the schools I have worked in or visited. It takes outstanding students to create outstanding schools".
Once again a big thank you for your continued efforts in supporting the Warm Heart Malawi charity and the Ekwendeni School. We are very proud of you!
